The New Deal Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In the midst of the 1930’s the United States underwent a social and economic catastrophe known as the Great Depression. The rich stayed rich, where the middle class and lower class citizens became instantly dirt poor as the stock market collapsed and the U.S. Dollar tumbled in value. One man set out to attempt to bring the nation back from it’s economic drought, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States. Roosevelt constructed a series of plans in between 1933-1938 with the goal of relief, recovery and reform of the United States economy. Though some of the programs did not directly benefit the United States at the time and displease certain groups who were being negatively effected, they were all created in an attempt to help, and were not guaranteed. The Emergency Banking Act/Federal Deposit Insurance (FDIC) program, the Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA), and the Federal Securities Act/Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), are three of the many plans used by Roosevelt that had their own successes and shortcomings in an attempt to get American ba......
