The Old Man and the Sea This story shows the ambition and pride of an old Cuban fisherman. The story starts off in a place that the old man refers to as terrace. He returns home after an unlucky day of fishing. The story tells that he, at one time, caught many fish and did many incredible things which gave him many great stories to tell. The story shows that he took pride in his fishing and although he might not have luck, he had the love for the fish and was still an excellent fisherman. Early in the story, we are introduced to a young boy named Manolin. This boy was the old mans dearest friend. Manolin showed great respect but also concern for the old man. Manolin was a fisherman as well. He had been taught everything he knew about fishing by the old man. His first time fishing had actually been with him. Like I said before, the man had caught many fish and done amazing things in his day, but he had hit somewhat of an unlucky streak and was having trouble catching fish.
