Today December 23, 2008, is my day in court. Before we head off to court lets look at a brief history of Prescott and its courthouse. Back in 1864 Prescott was selected to be the State Capital. It held this title for only a short time, until 1887. The Prescott courthouse was built in 1916. I decided to observe Division II, Superior Court of Yavapai County, Prescott Arizona, the Honorable Judge Robert M. Brutinel presiding. Judge Brutinel handles juvenile matters from C.P.S. (Child Protection Services) issues to juvenile delinquencies and incorrigible offenses. Upon arriving at the courthouse, I had to climb the granite steps to the second floor entrance, once inside I observed two security guards, an x-ray machine and a large metal detector. The metal detector was so sensitive that my belt buckle set off an alarm. I was asked to step to the side and spread my arms out away from my body. One of the security officers took a black wand and waved it past my body from head to toe, front and back. It only sounded off in front of my belt buckle. I was cleared to continue on my way.
