Newly elected president Barak Obama, appointed Timothy F. Geithner as the 75th United States Secretary of the Treasury. In the time of Crisis management, Geithner is put forth to prove that he is the right person for the job. While working under Mr. Summers, in the U.S Treasury, who later became Treasury Secretary under the presidency of Bill Clinton, Mr. Summers taught Geithner all he knows about crisis management.

From 2001-2003, He was the Director of the policy Development and Review Department for the International Monetary Fund 1998- 2001.
