Authors use techniques to highlight both the characters strengths and weaknesses in their stories. They have done this a number of ways in all 4 stories; The Second Hand Tongue, Tri, Rory and The Tattooist. They express this by showing humour, understanding, knowledge, vocabulary and they even use point of view to show both their weaknesses and strengths. The story Tri was in the first person narration. The author uses the techniques of understanding and point of view. The author does this by writing the story based on the point of view of one of the three bullies that are harassing a harmless little Chinese boy. Tri has an abrupt starting to the story saying "We found him crying in the toilet again. We knew we would" which entices the reader to continue reading to find out what happens. The unnamed character the story is based on is different from the other bullies because through the story he develops an understanding of the victims feelings when he realises the boy is just like them when the little boy yells "You wet me! You wet me!" and decides to discon......
