Sigmund Freud and the Psychodynamic Approach Sigmund Freud is the founder of psychodynamic approach and developer of the psychodynamic theory. The psychodynamic approach includes all of the theories in psychology that see the functioning of the human in relation to personality, and to the interactions of motivation and forces within the person, especially the unconscious ones (Benjamin, 1996). This means that there are other forces in our bodies that we do not realize, in which motivate us to do something or not. Freud's foundation of the psychoanalysis is often confused with the definition of psychodynamic. This confusion is due to the number of people that think the terms have the same meaning, when in reality they are completely different. The theories in which Freud developed were psychoanalytic, while "psychodynamic" refers not only to his theories but also his fellow peers' theories.
