The superstition of the evil eye is a belief in which a person who is envious or has an evil stare will bring a curse and misfortune to the victims. This curse is stirred from the belief that God will punish those who are envious. Invidia (envy) is unpredictable and undeniably contagious. As such, the villagers fear this more than anything else. Snakes are also believed to be the agents of the evil eye. Wearing amulets, marginalizing those who have the curse and even preventing themselves for being the target of the curse are some of the ways the villagers use to protect themselves. This superstition is so omnipotent that it has the power to include and exclude. It is apparent that the evil eye has the power to exclude. Those who do not believe or are indifferent to this superstition and continue to make others envious, either intentionally or unintentionally, will be regarded as the other.
