A Year in The Dark Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Two miles from town at the top of a steep hill stood a building, one that was dark and cold, and one that should be torn down. The dirty, white paint hung in flakes off the side of the building like icicles dangle from trees in the cold winter. From the outside that two-story apartment looked like a persons worst nightmare, old and rickety. What most people thought of as appalling was what I called home. Inside that dark cold apartment we struggled; struggled financially, emotionally, physically, and as a couple.
Before I graduated high school, I had plans to go away to Bowling Green State University, but something came in the way of that. A young man and a new exciting relationship made me decide to put college on hold. Fresh out of high school, as an eight-teen year old girl I took the less traveled path.
